BEN/BNOS TORAH SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY |
The philosophy of Yeshiva Merkaz Hatorah is the transmission and development of responsible, independent thinking that fosters positive self-discipline. In teaching children specific skills, we seek not only to impart Torah and Secular knowledge alone but to instill the everlasting middos and habits of learning, questioning and relating to others that leads to the development of a lifelong Ben Torah.
At Yeshiva Merkaz Hatorah, Rabbeim and teachers are trained in philosophies
and techniques that prepare dynamic learning environments that encourage
each child to reason, to cooperate, to collaborate, to negotiate, and to
understand. The teacher's goal is to guide the development and competency of
the individual child by serving as the facilitator for learning. The teacher
is the child's link to the environment, giving a lesson and stepping back to
allow the child to work, while observing and directing each child toward
mastery.
Each classroom offers a wide variety of educational opportunities, current
educational supplies, and handmade materials. Children are free to move
toward work that stimulates and satisfies their inner motivations. Yeshiva
Merkaz Hatorah's curriculum is organized as a continuum with one step
building precisely on the previous one in an atmosphere of cooperation,
teamwork, and peer learning.
We recognize the parent as the child's first educator and as an integral
part of the individual's total development. The Parents, through
observation, parent education and a partnership with the teachers, support
their children toward the discovery and application of the Merkaz Hatorah
Philosophy.
At Yeshiva Merkaz Hatorah we have a commitment to a close partnership
between home and school, academic accountability, and an innovative program
that leads students to develop extraordinary levels of personal
responsibility, independence, and self-confidence.
